The Age of the Saints 411- c. 700
Following the withdrawal of the Romans, Wales remained a Christian country. It did not unite under a single leader. Although the Angles and Saxons conquered England, they did not get into Wales, thus helping the Welsh language to survive. At this time many Christian "saints" operated in Wales.
Other famous Welsh saints, before St David, include St Illtud, St Teilo and St. Dyfrig.
