GCSE:
GCSE is the exam taken by 15 and 16 year olds to mark their graduation from the Key Stage 4. It is the exam from 8-10 subjects corresponding to the NC subjects.
Grades D–G is a Level 1 qualification, which is required to advance to Level 2 qualifications.
Grades A*–C is a Level 2 qualification which is much more desirable and insisted on by many employers and educational institutions
- Compulsory "Core" subjects are English, mathematics, science.
- Other compulsory subjects are Welsh, religious education and PE.
- There are 4 optional subjects.
Grades D–G is a Level 1 qualification, which is required to advance to Level 2 qualifications.
