In Wales there are not many private schools (it is not a very rich country with 70 % unemployment even higher miner unemployment).
Parents have the right to choose the school for their children, usually according to the place where they live (closest to them). Sometimes parents choose school where they work, but not many because children do not have many friends.
Parents can send children to church school which are not charged. They can send them to:

Cardiff is one of the areas of UK with significant catholic population (many Catholics came to Wales from Ireland). There are 20 schools, 2 are catholic and 4 protestant (6 church schools altogether).
