Organisation of School Year:
There are three terms in a school year:
They start every day with assembly- an act of collective worship which lasts 15 minutes. At some schools they pray with bowed head, some have Bible reading, talk about the main idea and repeat Lord’s Prayer. Muslim parents have a law to withdraw a pupil from collective worship and they are separated in a hall.
- Autumn term (so called Christmas term)
It starts with 1st Monday in September and runs until Christmas. The last week of October is a half-term holiday. - Spring term (Easter term)
There are two weeks of Christmas holiday and it runs until Easter. The third week in February is holiday. They also have two week holiday at the end of the term. - Summer term
It starts two weeks after Easter and runs until the third week in July (last week of May is half-term holiday. then they have 6 week holiday.
